A dark and electrifying novel about addiction, fanaticism, and what might exist on the other side of life. In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. The men and boys are all a bit in love with Mrs. Jacobs; the women and girls feel the same about Reverend Jacobs -- including Jamie's mother and beloved sister, Claire. With Jamie, the Reverend shares a deeper bond based on a secret obsession. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town. Jamie has demons of his own. Wed to his guitar from the age of thirteen, he plays in bands across the country, living the nomadic lifestyle of bar-band rock and roll while fleeing from his family's horrific loss. In his mid-thirties -- addicted to heroin, stranded, desperate -- Jamie meets Charles Jacobs again, with profound consequences for both men. Their bond becomes a pact beyond even the Devil's devising, and Jamie discovers that revival has many meanings.

Hey everyone, its Sarah and I'm back with another book review. Today's review is on Revival by Stephen King.

If you have never read Stephen King before and you are willing to give it ago, but you have heard that some of his books can be dense then I think this is the book for you. Revival is an easy read and the perfect first book for a reader who is interested but has never stepped foot into Stephen King’s mind.

His characters are fantastic; I enjoy the depth of the main character’s life we go in to. We watch as Jamie grows up from a young boy to an elderly man and how his life really shapes him into the person he becomes. He is far by my favourite protagonist I have read this year and loved following his journey. The antagonist, Charles, is also a great character. Fueled by want, this man does a whole one-eighty in his life and complete changes from the man that Jamie first meets as a child. I loved the flip in personality and to see how one great loss can change someone so much.

The storyline was also great, I got great feeling and imagery of the time that Jamie lived in, and loved the twist and turns of Jamie and Charles’ journey.

I really have nothing bad to say about this book, I think it was just fantastic and cannot seem to fault it. Normally there is one thing, even if it is small but I think I am in love too much to see.

But overall this was great and I gave it a five out of five, I cannot wait for Stephen King’s next book.

But that’s all for now.

I’ll write you soon.
